Leicestershire is in the process of changing many of it's lights to part-night lighting in a bid to reduce carbon emmissions and to save money. This means that street lights will be set to go off at midnight and come on again at 5.30am. The street lights in Bottesford have been assessed and a map showing proposed changes can soon be found via the link below. The changes will come into effect early next year.

There’s a new home for Melton Online (MOL) users, which has merged with leicestershirevillages.com (LV). It’s a move which sees MOL users benefitting from being part of a larger, vibrant online community. Each month almost 37,000 people visit LV to locate services, businesses, and planning applications; to add their news, event details, photos and join in forums; and some people add pages of content to their community website.
Staff from Melton Borough Council and Leicestershire County Council have worked behind the scenes to ensure a smooth transfer of users, both villagers and parish councils. “We wanted to ensure users felt a sense of continuity and support through this transition period,” explains Tim Heeley, website content coordinator for LV in the Melton District. “We’re now hoping to find volunteers from each community who will help administer their website and enthuse others to register and participate and together build their online community.” More »
At a time of great challenge for public services this move represents effective ‘joined-up’ working between local authorities, an enhanced service for users and savings in website hosting costs for Melton Borough Council.
Tim will be attending three Community Forum meetings in the Melton District, on the 23rd and 29th of September and 7th October, to promote the move and encourage more people to register to leicestershirevillages. » Less
